    • To do so we will need to know the channels and users associated with your company, which will be monitored according to their outputs.

  • How is Instagram Tracked?
    • We track Instagram using #hashtags only.
    • This is due to the way that Instagram allows us to match and acquire data.
  • Can amaSocial track all public Facebook data?
    • Due to privacy concerns Facebook made a global change in April 2015 to stop providing full access to users’ public posts.
    • This has impacted how social media can be monitored. We can still provide data on your specific profiles and pages but we cannot access the public chatter around your keywords.
  • Can I see the regional location of social posts?
    • We strive to ensure that the geographic data is as complete as possible.
    • However, not every social profile provides a geographic location and therefore you will only have the data for those social posts that do.
  • Can I schedule my own reports?
    • Yes. Watch the Generating and Scheduling Reports help video to learn how to do this. Alternatively, email hello@amasocial.co.za and we will schedule reports on your behalf.
  • How will I receive my scheduled reports?
    • Scheduled reports are automatically delivered via email.
    • You may have multiple recipients for each scheduled report, so that all members of your team receive the insights.
  • Does amaSocial provide an AVE for social media coverage?
    • Yes, we use an internal algorithm to derive the Advertising Value Equivalent (AVE) for social media coverage.
    • Our methodology includes a base value and followers to determine impact.
  • Why is amaSocial quoted/billed in US dollars?
    • amaSocial is quoted/billed in US dollars as it is a global service and our data suppliers bill us in US dollars.
  • Can I be quoted/billed in South African Rands?
    • Yes.
    • The South African Rand value will be calculated monthly according to the current exchange rate.
  • Can I schedule social media posts on amaSocial?
    • No.
    • amaSocial is a social media tracking service and therefore does not have scheduling tools.
    • There are a range of tools, systems and apps designed specifically for scheduling and managing your social media post. If you would like us to recommend the best solution for you, email us on hello@amasocial.co.za.
  • Can I respond to social media posts?
    • Yes.
    • You will be redirected to the post on your social media profile, where you can respond to it directly.
  • Can I give an additional user access to my Read to view the data?
    • Yes.
    • You can give additional users access to your read at any time.
    • Email hello@amasocial.co.za and we will set up access for your new user.
    • There is no limit to the number of users accessing a read to view the data.
  • Does amaSocial apply sentiment to social media posts?
    • No.
    • Social media posts tend to be short, laced with slang, inference, sarcasm, odd language use and emoticons all of which are problematic and often incorrectly matched areas for the Natural Language Processing system’s which are used to quantify sentiment.
  • How do I login to amaSocial?
  • I have forgotten my password.
    • If you’re unsure of your password, select forgot password? and a reset link will be sent to your registered email address.

  • What is a profile ID number?
    • A profile ID number is a unique number assigned to you by your social network provider (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube). It is used to identify channels, handles profiles and pages.
    • If you’re unsure how to find your ID number, Google “What is my [social network here] ID number” to find a range of services that will provide you with the answer.
  • What is a filter?
    • Filters allow you to sort your data according to identified areas of importance; be that by region, language, social media platform, keyword, allocations, or your customised sortbins.
    • Multiple filters can be used to quickly and easily find specific mentions.
  • Can I generate a report using only the data from selected filters?
    • Yes, simply select the required filters and generate the report.
    • This is a great feature to use when you only want to report on specific data.
  • What is a Sortbin?
    • Sortbins allow you to categorise data according to your specific area of interest.
    • You can create as many Sortbins as needed to help manage and report on your data.
    • There is no limit to the number of keywords per Sortbin.
  • My read is no longer active. Can I still access the data?
    • Yes.
    • Your read data is available to you for 2 weeks after your read has expired.
    • Should you need to extended access, email hello@amasocial.co.za.
  • My report will not generate.
    • If your report does not generate, it could be because of the following:
      • The selected date range is too broad and therefore the volume of data is too large.
      • Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube have made changes to the data since it was allocated.
      • An unforeseen technical issue.
